Anne Ngirita gained a name for herself as one of the young people embroiled in the NYS scandal.
Her good looks and style have pushed her further into the limelight with a man in Igembe even offering to take her place as she was too beautiful to be behind bars.Speaking to The Standard, Amos Mugambi said “I am calling on the government to come after me and release Ms Ngirita. I am ready to bear all the consequences.”
Humble beginnings
Though she is arguably one of Kenya’s most popular and opulent 30-somethings around, Anne’s life has not always been a bed of roses as she grew up in a humble home at the Council Estate close to the lavish Lakeview Estate where they now live. The mum also supported her 7 children with profits from their Wa-Gichini Posho Mill and a cereal shop in town.
“Walikuwa maskini sana, walikuwa wanakula ile shida hujawahi ona, shida as in hata wale wengeona hawana shida kama hiyo.” A boda boda rider who claimed to have sat next to Anne at the Naivasha DEB School told Citizen TV.(Translation: They were really poor, they went through many hardships like you have never seen. Even those who have trouble did not have problems like the Ngirita’s had)
He also revealed that Ann often kept to herself while in school.
Foreign influence
Despite their humble beginnings, their fortunes changed when Ann left for Germany where she also sort asylum after claiming that she was in danger of undergoing Female Genital Mutilation. After she came back from Germany, her lifestyle changed and she travelled in taxis for a while before getting her own fleet of cars. The boda-boda rider also alleged that Anne’s sisters’ marriages to foreigners also changed their fortunes.
A close family member identified by his pseudonym Albert Munga told The Nation that “Some of them started living large, driving big cars and moved to the leafy Lake View Estate in outskirts of Naivasha town. For the last two years, it has been a complete metamorphosis for the family members.”
